As noted in the Department's announcement on July 10, 2026, applications would be accepted until August 15, 2026, or until funding was fully allocated, whichever occurred first.
Applications submitted by 11:59 PM on July 27, 2026, will be approved if eligibility requirements are met. Applications received after 11:59 PM on July 27, 2026, will be denied.
DoHS appreciates the strong response to this year's School Clothing Allowance program. Information about other programs is available through local DoHS offices, on this website (bfa.wv.gov), and on the Department's website at dohs.wv.gov.

The School Clothing Allowance (SCA) program provides vouchers for clothing appropriate for school such as pants, shirts, skirts, dresses, shoes, coats, underwear and other basic clothing. Piece goods may be purchased to make clothing if the family desires. Clothing cannot be returned for cash (only exchanged). Purchases made with the vouchers are exempt from sales tax and some stores offer discounts to customers who use the vouchers in their stores.
